Job Summary

We are partnering with a Global Electronics organisation looking for a Global Trade Compliance Director to join their team in San Jose, CA. The company are a global operation and have a fantastic salary and benefit package on offer for the right candidate.

You will be responsible for the development and administration of policies and processes to ensure all worldwide business is carried out in compliance with Export and Import regulations.

Day to Day Responsibilities;

  • Manage the U.S. Trade Compliance staff and oversee the foreign Trade Compliance staff
  • Work closely with internal and external customers
  • Processing and managing export license applications through the Departments of State and Commerce
  • Maintains active registration with DDTC and other government agencies
  • Supervises the reviews of export shipment documentation
  • Integrates global compliance processes with shipping, order processing, Incoterms, documentation, and agreement approval workflow
  • Oversees declaration filings (customs and export)
  • Maintain global trade compliance records
  • Works with management to develop long-term strategies to facilitate business in accordance with a constantly evolving trade
  • Consults with and advises the functional areas to facilitate export licenses and Technical Assistance Agreements
  • Create and manage the company’s access control procedures
  • Collaborate with outside counsel in the development and implementation of global trade compliance policies
  • Manage operational tasks to support the business operations
  • Provide trade compliance training to employees
  • Applies complex U.S. and non-U.S. government export/import laws regulations for products, technology transfers, services, and deemed exports
  • Assists and leads in process improvements and the implementation of export compliance best practices

Experience Required;

  • Bachelor’s degree required in either Engineering or Law
  • Eligible to receive federal security clearance
  • Experience providing export control and customs classification advice and counselling
  • ITAR and EAR experience
  • Experience assessing export and import compliance processes
  • Ability to handle and develop policies and procedures
  • Strong management background
  • Extensive Trade Compliance experience preferably in a similar organisation
  • Experience navigating the relationships between various government agencies responsible for export control laws and regulations
  • General knowledge of the legal and regulatory export environment
  • Expertise and hands on knowledge of US, Japanese, and EU import and export regulations
  • Familiarity and knowledge of regional regulations of Singapore, Hong Kong, China, India, and Taiwan a plus
  • General knowledge of Japan’s Ministry of Economy
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Good writing, presentation, and verbal skills
