Job Summary

We are partnering with a leading manufacturing organisation is looking for a Global Trade Compliance Manager to join their team in Melbourne, Florida.  

The role involves managing members of staff in a fast- paced environment. As well as managing all import and export compliance scenarios in accordance with the global trade compliance regulations.


  • Good knowledge of government regulations and laws relating to ITAR, EAR, CBP, OFAC, and of trade laws and regulations outside of the U.S
  • Supervise the Trade Compliance staff
  • Ability to analyze and determine accurate product and technology classifications and to give classification advice and counselling
  • Knowledge of import and export compliance scenarios
  • Facilitate, process, track, and oversee export licenses, commodity jurisdiction requests, Technical Assistance Agreements, technology transfers, services, and deemed exports through DDTC and BIS
  • Evaluates and approves trade transactions such as, export shipment documentation, orders for export release, employee international travel and accompanying technical data, foreign person visit requests, new hire/contractor on-boarding, etc
  • Supports and leads in process developments and the implementation of compliance best practices, support trade related projects such as; system and process integration, import projects, modification and/or updates to trade compliance policies and procedures, company-wide and new hire trade compliance training, , internal reviews and/or audits and other projects as assigned
  • Monitors changes in government policies and export trends and advises senior management of substantial changes and provides timely risk assessments.  Also creates and maintains contacts with appropriate government licensing authorities as deemed necessary
  • Works closely with functional areas to tackle business concerns, plans and coordinates trade activities, and offers guidance for inquiries received from employees, management, and customers
  • Keeps all export related records including records of technical data transfers, defence services provided, and ITAR exemptions used, etc
  • Maintains active registration with DDTC and other government agencies


  • Minimum of 10 years total relevant professional experience (3 years in management capacity) and experience within an Engineering background
  • Knowledge of rad hard products or classification codes under the EAR
  • Practice in assessing export and import compliance processes, procedures, and resources; preparing and reviewing export licenses; providing recommendations; and developing policies and procedures
  • Ability to provide import and export classification advice and counselling
  • Experience with ITAR, EAR and OFAC; conducting investigations, audits, and assessments, navigating the relationships between various government agencies responsible for export control laws and regulations
  • History with processing and managing export license applications through the Departments of State and Commerce
  • Good knowledge of the legal and regulatory import and export environments
  • Talent to develop strong working relationships with suppliers, customers, service providers, and staff
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with the skill to develop people and act as a role model and coach
  • Strong computer skills including an experience with on-line export compliance tools (e.g. Amber Road, MK Denial) and Microsoft Office, ACE system and EEI experience are very desirable
  • Must be eligible to receive federal security clearance; must be a US citizen
