An international household goods moving and relocation provider is now seeking an experienced industry profile to fulfil the role of General Manager for their branch in China.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join an international and domestic moving provider in a senior leadership position.

For the position of General Manager, we are seeking an experienced leadership professional with exposure to office management, sales and business management within a moving and relocation company.

Responsibilities of the General Manager include:

  • Establish the forecast budget for the coming year, control and follow up of the various spending and income in relation to the forecast during the entire year
  • Regularly reporting into the head office on performance, budgets and variances
  • Take responsibility for & control the internal and external invoicing and branch P&L
  • Manage, develop, encourage and monitor the performance of staff, ensuring high-quality work at all times
  • Spearhead the driving forward of sales and development whilst ensure the branch meets and exceeds all sales, budget and profit objectives
  • Partnering with the sales team to represent the branch at international conferences, seminars and meetings as required
  • Establish a commercial strategy and objectives to be met and ensure the business is achieving and exceeding these targets 
  • Devise and implement operating procedures that will increase the efficiency of household goods moving services for clients 
  • Ensuring the company complies to operating standards, maintaining a positive health & safety culture in the workplace
  • Overseeing the complete day to day operational management of the business in China
  • Ensuring all staff understand company goals and deliver a consistently superior service in line with quality standards
  • Ensuring that the company meets all legal requirements (security, structure and equipment maintenance)
  • Ensure all quotes are followed up on time by the sales team representatives
  • Control the quotes for household goods moving price (price, margin, services) before transmission to the client
  • Identify, address and resolve any business performance-related issues to achieve a more efficient and streamlined operation
  • Continuously aim to maintain high levels of customer service across all moving and relocation services
  • Identify development opportunities for employees, regularly evaluating their current skills and setting new training opportunities
  • Staying up to date with business trends and changes within the relocation, moving and storage industry
  • Demonstrating your awareness of the household good moving and relocation industry, local market, customer and competitor activity

Experience required:

  • Extensive experience at Management level within the household goods moving sector
  • Fluency in English is essential, fluency in Mandarin and another European language (German, French or Dutch) would be advantageous 
  • Strong operational and sales knowledge of door to door household goods moving, corporate relocations, transport, storage and specialist moves
  • Sales and business development experience within the household goods moving sector is preferred 
  • Previous management proficiency with P&L accountability
  • Highly organized with natural leadership and management skills
  • Excellent communicator, comfortable liaising with all levels of management and staff
  • Strong sales and commercial business acumen will be advantageous
  • Strong IT skills with previous experience with MS Office products

Relocation and visa support will be provided for the right individual
