Alchemy MedForce is partnering with a palliative care facility who are seeking an experienced Band 6 Registered Nurse (Child) to join their team.
The Registered Children’s Nurse will partner with the nursing team to ensure holistic end-of-life care services not limited to line management, care planning management and palliative care plans.
Key duties of the role include:
- Provide child end-of-life and post-death nursing care as per the agreed care plan, both within the facility and in the community
- Carry out care assessment and planning to enable symptoms to be successfully managed
- Managing palliative care referrals, conducting care assessments and attending pathway meetings
- Operating in line with the facilities nursing policies and procedures
- Consistently promote safeguarding and high-quality standards of care
- Working effectively as a nursing team, supporting each other to build a safe and high standard palliative care team
- Provide ongoing clinical guidance and support to other nursing staff, health care support workers and care, assistants, as required
- Supporting recruitment management, appraisals and staff supervisory responsibilities
- Consistently ensuring that the unit is working according to the NMC code of professional conduct
- Stay knowledge on best practice, safeguarding and legislation about children’s palliative care and health
- Carry out risk management, ensuring risks are identified and mitigated to ensure successful safeguarding
- Participate in out of hours clinical on-call service when required
Qualifications, skills and experience required:
- Qualified and experienced as a Band 6 or above RN Child / RSCN
- Extensive experience within child health care settings delivering high-quality delivering care to children
- Highly organised, excellent organisation skills, strong communication skills both verbal and written
- Experience of working in a palliative care service would be advantageous but is not essential
- Ability to problem-solve and undertake a wide range of clinical tasks
- Successfully able to work independently and also capable of effective nursing team working
- Flexibility to travel and work outside normal working hours
