Job Summary

Our client, a well-known Higher Education College is looking for a Sports Lecturer to join their established team in London.

The Sports Lecturer will be responsible for promoting and implementing all College policies, particularly those pertinent to the health and safety of young people and vulnerable adults. The Sports Lecturer will also participate in college programmes and continue their own personal professional development. By developing effective working relationships with colleagues, you will become a vital member of the team. 

The successful candidate will assist in running a Football Academy as well as fulfilling other duties such as; undertaking course specific leadership, plan, design and deliver learning sessions and facilitate learning while adhering to the course aims, and monitor and evaluate these sessions to identify areas of improvement where necessary. 

Sports Lecturer Key Duties:

  • To assist in the admission, induction, and enrolment of learners, adhering to the Colleges policies and procedures 
  • Observe and identify learners needs, and provide support where possible 
  • Assist learners in accessing Learning Support within the college facilities, such as the Skills Centre and Inclusion Centre 
  • Collaboratively work with Personal Tutors to assist with target setting and individual learning goals 
  • Implement a high quality of teaching across appropriate courses, utilising innovative and high quality learning methods, including E-learning 
  • Undertake all administrative and organisational duties associated with teaching 
  • Contribute to the monetisation of document quality and statistics as required and requested by the College 
  • Undertake Course leadership 
  • Attend meetings, career events and open opportunities as appropriate 
  • Carry out own personal development and training to ensure you keep up to date with developments in the profession 
  • Manage student behaviour in line with the Colleges policies and procedures 
  • Carry out tasks such as examination entry, recording of results and progressions, and maintaining discipline records 
  • Develop learners employability skills and identify work-related progression opportunities for learners 
  • Provide additional assistance and cover for colleagues as necessary 

Skills and Experience: 
  • Hold a Coaching qualification FA Badge Level 2, or alternatively the motivation to work towards this
  • Evidence of continuous professional development 
  • Hold a Teaching Qualification, or alternatively willingness to accept support from the College to obtain one 
  • Possessing a Level 2 Qualification in English and Maths, or willingness to achieve with support 
  • An understanding of safeguarding young people and vulnerable adults, with a commitment to creating a safe learning environment
  • Determination to promote equality and diversity throughout the college
  • A confident, self-motivated and committed approach to delivering high standards of education
  • Happy to go the “extra mile” in relation to duties and hours 
  • Computer literacy and IT skills are essential 
  • Previous experience running/assisting a Football Academy is desirable 
  • Previous experience teaching Sports is essential
