Job Summary

Our client, a well-known Higher Education College is looking for a Careers Guidance Adviser to join their team in London.

The successful candidate will be passionate about assisting others and will be dedicated to contributing to an outstanding experience to all learners. You will also be an enthusiastic and flexible team member.

Careers Guidance Adviser Key Duties:

  • Provide impartial career guidance that enables learners to set aspirational career goals
  • Assist learners in reviewing their own skills and develop where necessary to ensure they are able to obtain positive career opportunities
  • Utilise presentations to deliver high quality careers advice individually and to groups
  • Allow learners to set targets with clear and detailed action plans, and assist where necessary
  • Provide progress update reports linked to the Colleges Careers Service
  • Act as the lead when reviewing the Colleges Matrix Standard
  • Attend outreach events and represent the College
  • Promote the highest possible standards in customer care, equal opportunities and health and safety practices
  • Assist leaders by coordinating activities that improves the Colleges capacity and aligns with meeting the 8 Gatsby Benchmarks
  • Liaise with the National Careers Service
  • Improve the design and intent of the College Careers
  • Programme and the Create your Future online package and tutorial framework
  • Understand bespoke careers interventions with learners whom have been identified as at risk or vulnerable
  • Contribute to the overall development of the department
  • Support activities promoting the college
  • Utilise your expert knowledge of careers and market information to enable learners to identify their potential and relevant opportunities of progression
  • Take responsibility for your own personal professional development and participate in relevant training activities

Skills and Experience:

  • Hold a degree of equivalent qualification
  • Must be Qualified to a Level 6 Careers Guidance Qualification
  • Hold a Level 2 qualification in Maths and English
  • Undertaken Level 3 Customer Care Training
  • Extensive experience of delivering high quality Careers Information, Advice and guidance in a post-16 education setting
  • Experience of undertaking the Matrix Standard
  • Proficient in Microsoft Computer packages
  • Understanding of the “Gatsby Benchmarks”
  • Possess excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Possession of good interpersonal skills
  • Experience of utilising College Systems to record and measure career interventions and outcomes
  • Experience of setting and achieving targets, goals and department KPI’s
  • Committed to understanding equality and diversity issues, and a strong commitment to safeguarding learners  
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a range of stakeholders
  • Keen sense of responsibility, ownership and a “can do” approach to everyday challenges
