Job Summary

We have an exciting new opportunity with our client, who is an established art organisation in Massachusetts!

They are looking for an experienced, collaborative, and enthusiastic Auction Assistant to join their rapidly expanding and specialised team. This position would offer the unique opportunity to handle and operate with rare antiques, valuable art pieces and more!

The perfect candidate will be able to adapt quickly and offer flexibility to the role, both in terms of scheduling and task variety. Willingness to learn and work independently, as well as in a team is essential.

 

Main responsibilities include:

  • Preparation of the gallery floor for upcoming actions, including decoration and blocking of the space.
  • Supporting the handling team with tasks related to auctioned items, such as viewings and post-sale.
  • Welcoming clients and aiding with previews of the auctions, as well as any related essential auctions tasks during the process.
  • Taking part in the administrative processes before and after completion of sales.
  • Participate in the cataloguing, inventory checks/reports and artwork maintenance.
  • Ensure the growing quality and quantity of unique material and uphold the company’s reputation.

 

Requirements:

  • Strong communication skills as needed in teamwork or client liaison.
  • Punctuality, time management and organisation.
  • Good physical ability, including ability to lift heavy items. 
  • Flexibility and adaptability due to the dynamic nature of the role.
  • Excellent cataloguing, photography and image editing skills.
