Job Summary

If you have a background in Art Research and a fantastic knowledge of Contemporary Art, then an established Art Gallery in Central London have the perfect opportunity for you!

This role requires candidates who have studied Art History and have experience researching artists, artworks and writing academic publications and catalogue entries.

The main responsibilities for this role include:

  • Thorough research of artists and their artworks within the Contemporary Art market
  • Ascertaining an artworks provenance and the artists bibliography
  • Regularly speaking with art industry experts to gain knowledge
  • Review artworks and images and communicate with curators
  • Cataloguing artworks and updating the database accordingly
  • Utilising past and present research, studying archives and creating entries based on findings
  • Assisting with publications and carrying out proof reading
  • Provide administrative support to team members


Experience required:

  • Previous artworld experience is essential for this role
  • A master’s in art history is hugely beneficial for this position
  • Previous experience in a research and administration focused role
  • An academically sound writer with a key attention to detail  
  • Experienced in using internal art databases and cataloguing is advantageous
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
