The role will serve as the primary point of contact for business drivers, delivering key company information to them as needed while also approving discretionary maintenance and travel charges, assisting with payroll processing, and performing other basic management activities as needed.
Requirements of the Dispatch Supervisor:
- Plan drivers' and crews' daily schedules, setting up assignments, and working with corporate to ensure all shipments are assigned and collected up.
- Accept and register new cargo as needed.
- Dispatch teams for each job for each day and ensure the workload is at its peak.
- Input weekly payroll into company systems and process paperwork for new employees.
- Maintain logs for local equipment and trucks.
- Assist with recruiting OTR drivers.
- Assist drivers in selecting the most efficient routes.
- Coordinate with drivers to find available agents as needed.
- Communicate with agents to arrange incoming cargo and labour as needed.
- Update ETAs and shipment notes in the applicable company software as needed.
- Monitor drivers to ensure they are following DOT standards; halt drivers who are in breach of regulations.
- Review/analyze repair requests and approve charges as appropriate.
- Review/analyze drivers' travel charges and approve when appropriate.
- Communicate with consumers and internal customer service about the driver's schedule (particularly regarding arrival timings).
Experience required of the Dispatch Supervisor
- Previous logistics and transportation experience.
- Skilled in company systems, clear communication, and excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Expertise in logistics and transportation, including residential, commercial, and military relocation services.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
